2016 Lake Nona Impact Forum Reflections

How energizing, and a little bittersweet, to see the 4th annual Lake Nona Impact Forum come to a close as it marked the last one that I was involved with planning.  It was great fun, and very satisfying, to curate the program with co-founder Gloria Caulfield.  Based on delegate feedback, it was our best yet.  New Lake Nona Institute chairman Tom Graham did a phenomenal job hosting and moderating the event, injecting his wisdom and humor throughout.  And the passion and energy of our speakers and delegates never waned over two packed and intense days.

I truly believe that Lake Nona represents a crucible in which transformational health innovation can be designed, tested and then dispersed broadly.  But that will only happen with the help of the Impact Forum delegates and alumni who serve as both mentors and ambassadors for Lake Nona. If this year's Forum is any indication, the universe of friends of Lake Nona has expanded significantly.

It will take some time to absorb and process the novel and inspiring insights that our speakers and delegates so generously shared, but that will be part of the legacy of this year's event.  I have always felt that the most important and gratifying outcomes of the Forum are the relationships built and the cross-pollination that occurs, often unexpectedly.  The hallway and cocktail party conversations, the business cards exchanged, and the friendships started or rekindled are where the magic lies.

It's been an honor to be part of creating something meaningful, establishing so many valued friendships along the way.  And now, being able to stand back and proudly watch where it goes from here, will be the most fun of all.
